Spot Plates

A spot plate runs many small scale tests at once using drops instead of test tubes, which is why they are standard in qualitative analysis and pH work. Both plates here are glazed porcelain with an unglazed base, so they resist most organic solvents, sit flat on the bench, and give a white background that makes a color change or a faint precipitate easy to read. The 6 well porcelain spot plate is the common classroom size with 20 mm wells. Step up to the 12 well plate when you are comparing more samples against a standard in a single run.
